Traffic Light

What would happen if everyone ignored traffic lights? Pretty scary, huh? Did you know that each day 95% of Americans ignore God's "traffic light?"

Every day staff and guests enter the lobby of Back to the Bible and see a flashing traffic light. This light serves as a reminder that God's Word should provide direction in all areas of life.

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Our question is, why is the Bible becoming less and less necessary/important in people's lives? At the Center for Bible Engagement, we not only want to know why, we want to know how we ... how you ... how all of us can work together to move people toward a vibrant relationship with God.

Below are just a few reasons for our research:

  • In an interview with Assist News Service, Ron Rhodes, President of Reasoning from the Scriptures Ministries, quotes a recent poll, which indicates that 35% of born-again Christians do not read the Bible at all.
  • Among those who say they read the Bible, the vast majority only read it during the one hour they attend church each Sunday morning.
  • Today, basic Christian truths are virtually unknown to a majority in this nation. Our research indicates that if current trends of Biblical illiteracy continue, by 2040 the Bible will be a "thing of the past" for most people who claim to be Christ-followers.

That's what it boils down to. We're not here to only do research and say "isn't that interesting." We're here to help people find God through reading the Bible.
